I have been informed by a responsible source that Mr. A. Andreas Avgousti, the General Director of the TRA has tendered his resignation from his position. The resignation has not been accepted yet, and needs to go through the process set down by the TRA’s laws and regulations.
It is worth noting that Mr. Avgousti’s term was for 3 years which would have ended in November 2006. He will stay in Bahrain to hand-over his office to whomever is chosen to replace him probably until August of this year. Mr. Avgousti feels that another responsible person should now lead the TRA into their second phase of existence.
We would like to thank Mr. Avgousti for his tenure in Bahrain and specifically for taking the time to communicate directly with us to explain the TRA’s position regarding the recently released ADSL packages which we feel are inappropriate, unfair and disappointing.

[...] Interestingly the TRA’s General Director has submitted his resignation, as posted by BoycottBatelco. This amid the bad publicity and consumer outrage of Batelco’s move to cap our use, doesn’t reflect very well on the TRA, who cleared Batelco to introduce these new limits on our use. [...]

You can’t blame batelco for the increase in internet price, nor you can blame anyone in Bahrain, The internet is the new media and it’s slowly taking over the major news media, that has brainwashed almost everyone on the planet. So why increase internet prices, by the way not just in Bahrain, to protect the public from knowing the truth.

Batelco haven’t changed their broadband residential packages yet.. or atleast haven’t updated their site:
And Feshelco is hiring a Regulatory Lawyer:
http://www.totallylegal.com/jobs/regulatory-lawyer-2-4-313137.html
Salary: £50,000 tax free
Batelco is looking for a regulatory lawyer to assist the company’s regulatory affairs team to share an increased workload. Experience in and an interest in regulated industries, competition law and/or the communications sector is a pre-requisite.
This role is offered initially as a two year fixed-term contract and includes a generous tax-free salary, living allowance, performance related bonus and medical insurance.
The successful candidate will be required to be based permanently in Bahrain where accommodation and the quality of life is extremely good. For the right candidate, this represents an outstanding opportunity to be at the heart of an exciting company at a pivotal time in the company’s development.

by the way what happened to the big switchover day.. my account still shows unlimited usage on the eshop.. does anyone else see a charge now?
May 28th, 2006 at 1:28 pm
I guess they pushed cutt-off date to the 29th.
but I might be wrong… we may just get lucky and either the packages might get reversed with more bandwidth like in their 100’s, or an unlimited package option might be released….. no harm in wishing right?

Just found out that the Limit (I have 15gb BHD 40) is used for download and UPLOAD (so be careful people), this month my internet was cut because the p2p i use does not allow you to control the uploads, and since the rest of the world have faster speeds than batelco, well, i downloaded 3gb and had 12 gb uploaded from me. I called Batelco and they said they couldn’t do anything about it!!
my brother and I use the internet at home, it lasts us 2 weeks than we get cut
40BHD for 2 weeks of inet at 1/2 the promised speed
futhermore, I dont think its fair to get charged for what people download from you.
What Batelco are doing is wrong. everyone knows this. you cant limit inet usage on a whole country. what is this? cyber sanctions !!!
When will there be a proper ISP is BRN?
ISP: Internet service provider
Batelco: internet service blocker

What p2p program do you use? and for what purposes? edonkey? because i might be able to recommend other more bandwidth friendly alternatives.
As for the whole situation, iam afraid we are stuck with it for the forsee-able future, best i can suggest is to conserve your usage

Hah, I already lost 3 gigs in 2 days.
If I conserve - my network doesn’t.
If I don’t - Then It’s back to 64k in a few days.
IF moodyz is correct - 2connect opens in 2 days.
